Editor’s Note • July 2022

Happy 246th Birthday, America! I love working on the July issue because it is our job—and privilege—to buck trends and highlight how blessed we are to live in this country. It’s just icing that we also happen to live in Texas. While we strive to build every issue with positive stories about great people and events, I am happy when we can celebrate the community spirit we have in Georgetown, and the nation that nurtures it.

If you have the means, I highly recommend booking a talk with Nick Adams, our cover feature, for your group or organization. Like many newly minted citizens, he loves America with the zeal of a convert, and his energy is truly contagious. We also included some weird facts about America in general to get the ball rolling for July 4th.

Our special section includes some practical advice and narratives about the fun and success you can enjoy during your retirement years. From savings to sports, there are plenty of experts and resources in Georgetown to set your plans in motion.

But we didn’t forget to show some love for Texas as well. Not only is beef still one of the biggest industries in the Lone Star State, Leona General Store is a great place to get some of the best mouth-watering steaks around. In a show of great commitment to journalism (wink), my husband and I took one for the team just to make sure our recommendation was truly worth the drive. Spoiler alert… it was.
