Editor’s Note • May 2022

It’s great to be writing this letter, having glanced back at previous May messages that seem like they can’t possibly be just one or two years ago. Happily, spring 2022 came without lockdowns or recovery from ice storms and we are all happy to be writing about soccer, good business, and drinking wine instead. And, naturally, taking photos of bluebonnets.

This month we are taking a look at all the ways we can enjoy the efforts and success of women in business. First, we are pleased to introduce Dr. Lori Palazzo, who had the courage to take the post of county medical director during a pandemic, and  our Thriving After 55 section are two women who made great careers for themselves in unconventional ways and tell a great story in the process.

We also explore Texas’ solid and growing reputation for great wine. You’ll find new ways to dig deep, find, drink, and enjoy it.

Of course there’s also mothers, graduation, and Memorial Day. Plus, as a writer, it was a privilege to speak to the ‘Evidence Whisperer’ who will be speaking in Georgetown May 13. He is a hope spring for those who want to know more about apologetics, and a don’t-miss opportunity for the community.

Speaking of graduation, let’s be sure to send some love to our GISD seniors at the parade May 22. It started out as a response to the lockdown but has already become a glorious tradition for Georgetown and I appreciate Superintendent Dr. Fred Brent’s willingness to continue it for the sake of everyone in the community.

Here’s to your continued good health, Georgetown!
