Move over Red Hat Society, this group of creative ladies raises the bar on how to enjoy Georgetown with friends.
Julie Hobbs created this annual, costumed luncheon four years ago to celebrate Springtime in a grand way. Ladies are invited and encouraged to dress in decade apparel, and, as you can see, they enjoy the challenge.
Most of the ladies dressed in 50s regalia—bobby soxers to June Cleaver—but Julie herself had a 40s military-swing flair, and Becka fully committed to a 20s flapper look.
“We had to skip last year because we are a pretty large group,” Julie says. “This year, we were excited about The Golden Rule [restaurant]; it’s new and hip, plus their banquet room is a perfect space and a good fit for our group.”
While not an official club, this eclectic mix of friend groups enjoys finding costumes online and spending a Spring day with mimosas and girl time. They are very welcoming to new friends, and already looking forward to next year’s luncheon. Julie says, “It’s fun to do the decade theme, and is a great excuse to have some refreshments and dress up. Really, we’re all just so pleased to be able to do something that feels a little ‘normal’ for a change.”
Julie’s next planned dress up opportunity is the 5th Annual Georgetown Ball Gown Square Crawl November 20, and will benefit her non profit HELP Crisis Assistance.
