TEXAS SPINE & SCOLIOSIS

Texas Spine & Scoliosis was created to take a specialized approach to back and neck pain, scoliosis, and spinal deformity that combines the expertise of fellowship-trained spine surgeons, physical medicine MDs, spine therapists, and advanced diagnostics—all under one roof.

The regional spine center includes four fellowship-trained spine surgeons (the highest level of medical education possible) and four spine MDs who specialize in non-surgical treatment of back and neck pain. Spine and scoliosis patients from all over the U.S. and Mexico choose Texas Spine & Scoliosis Center—one of only two centers in Texas to be included in SpineCenterNetwork.com’s national listing of credentialed spine centers of excellence. The center is also designated as a Blue Distinction regional spine center by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

As Texas Spine & Scoliosis believes the best health care is chosen by a well-informed consumer, the center provides a free, educational Back to Life Journal and spine encyclopedia at TexasSpineandScoliosis.com, as well as a Home Remedy Book patients can request through the website or by calling 512-324-3580.

“The most advanced treatment for a herniated disc is artificial disc replacement, which preserves the natural motion of the spine instead of locking two vertebrae together with a spinal fusion,” explains Dr. John Stokes, a fellowship-trained spine surgeon at Texas Spine & Scoliosis. “The Mobi-C artificial disc is designed to replicate the natural motion of the vertebrae in the neck.”

  • Retains motion of the vertebrae
  • Quicker recovery
  • No bone graft required
  • Prevents damage to other levels
  • Patients can go home same day
  • Less painful surgery than a fusion
  • Less blood loss during surgery

For patients who want to avoid surgery, spinal injections are a less invasive alternative. “Unlike a pill, a spinal injection applies pain medication directly to the disc level that is causing pain symptoms. Many times this can help them get back to activity without surgery,” explains Dr. Eric Mayer, a fellowship-trained specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Texas Spine & Scoliosis. Dr. Mayer and Dr. Kunj Amin, another fellowship-trained spine MD, see back and neck pain patients in the Texas Spine & Scoliosis Round Rock/Georgetown office.
